Seth and Evan are best friends since childhood who are about to go off to different colleges, a separation that causes Seth significant anxiety, especially as he fears losing his close bond with Evan and is upset that Evan will be rooming with their mutual acquaintance Fogell. Seth is primarily motivated by a desire to lose his virginity to Jules, whom he met in Home-Ec class, and to impress her by bringing alcohol to her party. Evan, while also seeking to lose his virginity, is more focused on having a meaningful relationship with his crush, Becca, and is deeply concerned about keeping the news of his future living arrangements from Seth. Fogell, the third main character, is a socially awkward friend whose primary goal is to get to Jules' party with the alcohol, driven by his own desire to lose his virginity to Nicola.
