Raoul Duke
Raoul Duke is the main character and narrator of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, a drug-fueled journey that captures the chaotic spirit of the 1970s. As a gonzo journalist, he is a self-proclaimed "Doctor of Journalism" who embarks on a surreal trip to Las Vegas to cover the Mint 400 motorcycle race, but his true mission is to chase the remnants of the 1960s counterculture and the American Dream. Known for his erratic behavior, heavy drug use, and vivid hallucinations, Duke is a cynical, hedonistic, and eccentric figure who often clashes with authority and society's norms. He is also a complex character, representing Hunter S. Thompson's own disillusionment with the decline of the 1960s ideals and the state of modern America.
