Mr. Miyagi
Mr. Miyagi, also known as Nariyoshi Miyagi, is a karate master and the central mentor figure in the The Karate Kid franchise. Created by screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, the character is inspired by Chōjun Miyagi, the founder of the Gōjū-ryū karate style, and Fumio Demura, who performed the fight scenes in the films. Portrayed by Japanese-American actor Pat Morita, Mr. Miyagi is depicted as a wise, eccentric, and spiritual individual who teaches karate with a focus on discipline, honor, and non-violence. He becomes a father figure to Daniel LaRusso, imparting life lessons alongside martial arts.
