Chun-Li is a Chinese martial artist and Interpol officer who debuted in Street Fighter II in 1991 as the first playable female character in a fighting game to achieve mainstream recognition. Motivated by the murder of her father at the hands of M. Bison and his criminal syndicate Shadaloo, she utilizes her mastery of Chinese kempo and renowned lightning kicks to pursue justice and avenge her family.
