Bob Wiley
Bob Wiley is a neurotic, phobia-ridden, and overly dependent patient portrayed by Bill Murray in the 1991 comedy What About Bob?. Diagnosed with a multi-phobic personality characterized by acute separation anxiety, Bob becomes obsessively attached to his new psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Marvin (played by Richard Dreyfuss), after being referred by a frustrated colleague. Unable to cope without regular reassurance, Bob tracks Dr. Marvin to his family’s vacation home in New Hampshire, where his erratic behavior and boundless optimism inadvertently charm the doctor’s wife and children while driving the arrogant therapist toward a mental breakdown.
